Boveney Lock is known as being one of the busiest and most photographed locks on the River Thames and is home to Boveney Lock Keepers Cottage, owned and managed by The Environmental Agency.

The Cottage required a full renovation and insulation upgrade in preparation for occupation. This was undertaken with the utmost care; this was a very special and beautiful property.

• Strip out and removal of existing carpet, flooring, tiles, redundant pipework, strip wallpaper, kitchen and bathroom, larder cupboards.

• Removal of kitchen wall to create an open plan look within the ground floor.

• Removal of all lower timber floors, fit PIR insulation and re-board.

• Re-insulate the loft space with 200mm isowol insulation.

• Reboard and apply lime hemp plaster to the ceilings on the upper floor to the bedrooms and landing supplied by Ty-Mawr Lime Ltd. This involved fixing cork board to all sloping ceilings, applying 2 coats of lime base plaster, ruled and finished with a lime topcoat plaster.

• Sloping ceilings were then painted using a clay contained emulsion, to allow the areas to breathe.

• All walls, ceilings and woodwork were filled, sanded, refilled and readied for decoration.

• Strip out and replacement of existing bathroom, utilising any sanitary ware or hardware when possible.

• Strip out and replacement of a new Magnet kitchen, including appliances.

• Application of 3 coats of emulsion to all flat surfaces (walls and ceilings), and the application of 2 coats of satinwood to all woodwork.

• Fitting of new carpet and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) Flooring throughout.

• Identify and repair areas of the external guttering, soil pipes, repointing of brickwork and external timber which needed repair.

• Redecoration of the external porch and repairs to the paths and steps.
