Scope of
Works
Hankinson were engaged by main contractor Vinci Construction UK to support the Barton Square refurbishment project at the Trafford Centre in Manchester, with the provision of specialist decoration works.
Works involved the specialist decoration to Columns, Pilasters and Greek Key features etc, including marble simulation and gold leaf. This requires a high degree of specialist & creative painting skills; one of the reasons we were selected for this project is that we have developed these high skill levels within our Painting Teams.
The Trafford Centre remained fully open to the public and operational throughout the project, so the Risk Assessment approach was highly structured.
We carried out Risk Assessments on individual elements of the works methods to ensure close attention to detail regarding specific hazards & control measures, as well as an overal H&S Method Statement. Given the high profile of the Trafford Centre and the large number of retailers who are stakeholders at the location, the client required the project to be completed within a strict fixed timescale.
We managed this through careful project scheduling, robust project management at site level, ensuring ‘right first time’ working, identification and problem solving of any issues which could have caused delays and slipage.
We implemented our management systems, which are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. These procedures ensured that our works were managed to achieve quality compliance, fully effective safety control, and completion within the project timeline and budget.
